Justin, his girlfriend, and his dog Roosevelt were sleeping the morning of July 4th, 2015 when they woke up to find their house on fire. He saved his girlfriend and Roosevelt from the fire, but in the process received 2nd and 3rd degree burns on 30% of his body. Justin spent nearly a week in the burn unit receiving specialized treatment. He will be recovering and receiving treatment for many months to come. They escaped the fire with the pair of shorts that Justin was wearing and the gentle leader that he looped around Roosevelt's neck. Everything else they own, including Roosevelt's collar, was lost. Justin is a PhD student and lost his laptop with his dissertation on it in the fire. Justin won't be able to graduate in December 2015 as planned, but he is committed to finishing his PhD as soon as possible.

Your donations will help Justin and Roosevelt rebuild their lives. Justin needs clothes, shoes, toiletries, basically everything you need to live! Justin also needs a new laptop and specialty hardware for measuring specimens and creating digital models so that he can continue his graduate studies. Roosevelt needs a dog bed, dog toys, a collar, and a place to live! Your donations will also help to pay for Justin's medical bills. Justin had insurance, but no rental insurance which means everything lost in the house will not be recovered. His portion of the hospital stay is still many thousands of dollars. 

Justin is truly touched by the outpouring of support that he and Roosevelt  have received, and would like to thank everyone that is helping them get through this difficult time.
